Can dogs lead a vegan lifestyle? It is true that dogs belong to the order Carnivora, but they are actually omnivores. The canine body has the ability to transform certain amino acids, the building blocks or protein, into others, meaning that dogs can get all the amino acids they need while avoiding meat. A study based on genomics, published in the nature magazine proves that dogs have evolved to digest carbohydrates and starch. Based on our experience, we find that dogs are healthier and more energetic on vegan diets and also experience less bad breath and body odor. Bramble a vegan border collie lived a healthy life upto the age of 27!
-

Have trouble identifying your dogs dosha?Dogs can be of mixed dosha. Take our quiz to identify the predominant dosha. The dosha with the highest score is the predominant or primary dosha.
-
Do the Dosha’s change with time?Yes, the dosha can change over time and/or with season. We recommend that you take the quiz every 3-4 months to identify the primary dosha. Generally we recommend selecting products based on the primary dosha or rotating the food and treats based on the seasons. I was told that dogs cannot digest carbohydrates. Is this true?To meet their energy needs, dogs have evolved to use proteins and fats as their primary energy sources, but they can also use carbohydrates for energy. The fact that the dog's digestive system produces enzymes that are specific for digesting starches and sugars shows that they are capable of digesting carbohydrates. However, complex carbohydrates such as grains are more digestible when they are cooked.
We are pleased to announce that a portion of the funds gained from this retreat will be donated to the Plant Powered Rescue www.yazhinirescue.com, in support of their noble efforts to rescue and care for animals in need.
